Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue Center has appointed Dr. Sharon Pindar, DVM, as its first on-staff Veterinarian and Medical Director. This new appointment comes as Nate’s Honor expands its medical capabilities and prepares to open later this year a public veterinary clinic, a key component of its Journey Home capital campaign.

Dr. Pindar graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and has extensive experience in herd healthcare, shelter medicine, and animal behavior. After working in private practice, she joined Southeastern Guide Dogs, where she specialized in the care of puppies, breeding dogs, and behavior management. In 2020, she became Director of Shelter Medicine at SPCA Tampa Bay, overseeing medical care for a wide range of animals, including seniors, neonates, and exotics.

At Nate’s Honor, Dr. Pindar will oversee medical care for its shelter animals while also leading the launch of the organization’s public veterinary clinic, set to open later this year. The clinic, set to open later this year. The clinic will serve as a resource for pet owners in the community, offering expanded and affordable care options. It will also reduce Nate’s Honor’s need for external veterinary services, helping to streamline medical treatment for animals in its care and reduce expenses.

This appointment marks a significant milestone in Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue Center’s Journey Home capital campaign, a $16 million campus expansion that includes a new 23,000-square-foot Welcome & Adoption Center with a veterinary clinic, training facility, intake building, 10 new dog cottages, and other major on-site improvements. As construction reaches the home stretch, the organization is actively seeking continued support to meet its campaign goal and advance its mission of providing critical care and finding loving homes for dogs and cats.

Through the capital campaign, Nate’s Honor is significantly expanding to better serve the community. The improvements will double its capacity to house animals and provide more resources for the community, like training classes and access to veterinary care.
